Curling Iron
£98.33 – £107.50
A curling iron is used to create rolled edges of brims on men’s hats which increases the rigidity and strength of an otherwise flat brim. This is our version of the old tools that were used in factories and it features a metal iron and a wooden former. The metal iron is heated, preferably in a gas flame (kitchen hob or portable gas stove is ideal) and then used with the former to roll the brim edge.
Anything from a slight curl at the edge to a full roll can be achieved.
There are two sizes of curl available and the diameter of a full roll with this particular tool will be either approximately 1/2″ or 3/4″.
The iron is made from stainless steel and will therefore not rust or tarnish, and the former and handle for the 1/2″ curling iron are made from oiled British ash, with the former and handle for the 3/4″ version made from oiled British beech.
