An alternative to the hollowed base on blocks like this is the American style block with a neck. A string is tied into the small groove at the base of the shape and after blocking, the ribbon can be sewn just below. After that, the ‘neck’ is flipped inside – a good option where the size of the block does not allow the base to be hollowed easily but also a great technique on any similar shape of any size. FB5A is 15cm diameter.
